Enterprise laptop users or single-PC home office customers typically have no complex network backup requirements. As well, in these simple configurations, much of the rich functionality contained within the standard DS-Client package is unnecessary.

Online Datavault has introduced a Lite version of the DS-Client software package. Online Datavault's DS-Client Lite accommodates users whose requirements are limited to fast & simple, single PC backups/restores.

The DS-Client Lite operates on an MS Access Database and is suitable for backing up file sizes of up to 5 GB.

Another key feature is the software's Common File Elimination function, which identifies and eliminates file duplication beyond its second appearance in the backup or restore set, reduces bandwidth and saves money.

Additionally, automatic backup scheduling is optimized for portable computers - upon missing a scheduled backup, the DSClient Lite automatically initiates data backup the instant the laptop next locates the data repository through a TCP/IP connection.
