Online Datavault uses a Platform-Transparent Client, which allows for backing up for any number of platforms, including Windows, Novell NetWare, all common UNIX environments, and VMS with just one client software installation. This is a significant administrative advantage.

Also, Online Datavault uses our unique "agentless" feature, which means the software needs to be installed only on one node. This simplifies installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades, providing a simple yet feature-rich solution for backing up and recovering very complex heterogeneous LAN environments to an off-site on-line secure data center.

"Bare Metal" Data Recovery onto Different Machines
Only Online Datavault can perform "bare metal restores" – restoring the entire operating system, applications, settings and data for an entire machine – onto a new machine with different hardware than the original one. So if disaster strikes and you need to restore your data onto completely different machines – a common scenario – Online Datavault can do this effortlessly. Most remote backup providers who do not emphasize this ability CANNOT perform disaster recovery this way.
